The Scrap Stop's Privacy Policy

Customer Information

Information is collected at the time of a sale in order to complete the sale and deliver the products. Customer lists are not not sold or distributed to third parties. The Scrap Stop does not use customer lists to send solicitations (exce pt for users that request such in their Preferences, listed in the My Account section), which default to you not receiving any solicitations.

Credit Card Transactions

Credit card transactions are processed by Authorize.net, or PayPal if a user selects to pay via PayPal. A professional payment authorization service was chosen for added security and reliability. Only your billing address, the purchase price and the credit card information provided by the customer is supplied to Authorize.net. Information collected during transactions is maintained in their database for accounting and billing purposes.

Web Site Log Files

Web site log files are generated that collect the IP Address of the visitor, date, time, and pages visited. Aggregate reports for web site visitors are generated that do not contain personally identifiable information.

Advertising reports are generated that show the IP addresses of visitors who clicked on ads. This information may be sent to the advertiser to confirm the number of "click-throughs." The advertiser normally already has this information as a result of the user clicking on the adverstisement. No additional information about the visitor is supplied to the advertiser. The log files are eventually deleted.

Cookies

Persistent cookies are placed on the user's system to guarantee a secure shopping experience. These cookies remain on the user's system and are automatically retrieved when a user visits at a later time.

Third Party Downloads

Third party images may be loaded from servers, but web bugs (1x1 transparent images) are not used. To disable tracking by those third party servers, select "Enable Cookies for the Originating Web Site Only" in your browsers, instead of "ena ble all cookies".

External Linking

The logging of clicks for external links using "redirects" is only done for advertisements and counting hits to the links database.

Mailing Lists

The Scrap Stop may maintain subscription mailing lists. Users are never added based on requesting information or making a purchase. All preferences for mailings are set to 'No' by default when an account is created, and users must specifically change their preferences to receive such emails.

User Registration

The Scrap Stop does not require user registration to access content. User registration is required to purchase items and check out, and request other personalized features such as out-of-stock notifications.

Policy Changes

The restrictions on the dissemination of personal information are subject to change. The policy is updated occasionally but the changes will not reduce the privacy protection of visitors. If there are changes made in the future the changes will not affect information already collected.
